The ultimate grazing platter for two

Jenna Elsby from Chapel Lane events talks us through this recipe for the ultimate grazing platter for two - a perfect sharing dish for Valentines

1 x hard/semi hard cheese (gruyere, comte, mature cheddar)

1 x soft/semi soft cheese (brie, goats, taleggio)

1 x blue (dolce latte, stilton, gorgonzola)

Dried & fresh fruit (figs, peach cheeks, blackberries, grapes, dates)

Bunches of herbs (basil, rosemary, thyme)

Scattered nuts (almonds, hazelnuts, pecans, walnuts)

2 x choices of breads, flatbreads, crackers, oat biscuits

1. Choose a long, wooden board or platter to place centrally across the dinner table

2. Arrange the cheeses; one in the middle and two at either side, leaving space in between for all the wonderful “extras”

3. Now have fun scattering all the beautiful accompaniments in the space in between the cheese and even drizzle and sprinkle over the top – think nuts tumbling across honeycomb, berries wedged between bunches of rosemary and oozy gorgonzola…divine!

4. The aim here is to create a relaxed and rustic grazing board that is inviting and accessible – not perfectly arranged in neat little rows – the old-fashioned fan of crackers is our enemy here

N.B – Take cheese out of the fridge at least an hour before eating and remember, this centrepiece can be left in place and grazed over /enjoyed for the entire evening…
