The award comes in the latest edition of the Good Pub Guide with their ‘tempting food’ and ‘stylish and spacious bar’ receiving praise
The Running Horses - based on the Old London Road in Mickleham - has been named as Surrey's best dining pub in the latest edition of the Good Pub Guide.
Each year the guide gives out a number of awards to the best pubs around Britain based on various factors including how unspoilt they are, their selection of wines, their standard of food and more.
"The tempting food continues to draw plenty of customers into this well run and popular pub," says the guide's review.
"The stylish and spacious bar has cushioned walls and other dining chairs around straightforward tables on parquet flooring, racing cartoons and Hogarth prints on the walls, lots of race tickets hanging from a beam and a log fire in an inglenook fireplace."
The review also emphasises that the pub is a fantastic dining venue in the summer months as well as in winter: "Picnic-sets on the front terrace with its lovely flowering tubs and hanging baskets take in a peaceful view of the old church with its strange stubby steeple, just across the quiet lane."
