1. La Casita
Head to La Casita for an authentic taste of the Mediterranean on the cobbled streets of Guildford. Famed for its extensive tapas menu, seafood paellas and Sangria, the only difficulty is choosing what to order.
The set lunch menu is available every day of the week and diners can enjoy a glass of house wine and two dishes from the lunchtime tapas menu for just £10.25. It’s the perfect refuel treat after a day spent exploring Guildford – but make sure you book ahead to avoid disappointment as the restaurant can get very busy.
Blue Sardinia serves traditional Sardinian cuisine with a modern twist. Think antipasti, risottos, pasta and meats with a wide range of unusual and tasty herbs and spices.
There are a number of different menus to suit many occasions. The wine pairing menu is £50 per person for a range of courses coupled with an extensive selection of wines. Or perhaps try the pre-theatre menu, with two courses priced at £11.90 or three courses for £14.90. The à la carte menu is perfect for a romantic supper for two – just make sure you’re wearing your stretchy trousers if you want to leave room for dessert!
Calling all vegetarians and vegans! The Beano, one of Guildford’s best kept secrets, is the town’s only restaurant with a completely vegetarian menu. But omnivorous eaters should not be deterred, the delicious vegetarian lunches and modest prices should easily sway you to pay a visit.
A main course, salad and dessert is only £10.95 as part of The Beano’s special offer or pick something from the specials menu which changes daily. Just a few examples of the dishes previously served at the restaurant include chickpea tagine, spinach and ricotta lasagne and potato and leek pie to name just a few.

4. Thai Terrace
With panoramic views across Guildford, Thai Terrace is the ideal location to enjoy a spot of lunch on the balcony or sip a cocktail while watching the sun set over Guildford castle.
The menu is huge but don’t be daunted as the dishes are flavoursome with lots of colour and texture. From traditional rice and noodle dishes to spicy meats and fishy mains, there’s plenty to sate the appetite of any Thai food lover. After dinner, head to the trendy bar for a nightcap.
5. Burrito Loco
For a home cooked selection of tasty Mexican cuisine, head to Burrito Loco where local Surrey produce features heavily on the menu. Burrito Loco’s aim is to provide diners with authentic and healthy food so a hefty burrito or quesadilla can be enjoyed guilt-free and freshly made.The portions are generous so make sure you’ve got room for pudding - there’s brownies and ice cream to finish.
Don’t forget to try one of the frozen Pina Coladas or Margaritas before leaving the restaurant – they’re 2-4-1 every night after 7pm. If cocktails aren’t your thing, there’s a small selection of Mexican beers behind the bar. ¡Salud!
Yes the menu is quite pricey but it’s worth splashing out on as the restaurant has been awarded two AA rosettes for Culinary Excellence. That’s not forgetting The Mandolay has an extensive wine list of more than 70 wines and sparkling wines, 30 of which can be enjoyed by the glass. It’s an ideal venue for a special occasion.
There are a selection of meaty mains and a seafood medley on the menu, or perhaps you’d like to choose a dish straight from the grill. Finish the meal with a selection of cheeses for just £12.50.
The Mandolay Hotel
A landmark on the Guildford foodie map for many years, Olivo has still managed to retain its charm and appeal thanks to its traditional décor and welcoming staff who are friendly without being too intrusive. That’s not forgetting the food of course! On the menu you’ll find many classic Italian dishes, including: pizzas, antipasti, pasta dishes and a few additional surprises too (we’ve heard the calamari is really tasty).
Olivo has a sunny outdoor terrace where diners can enjoy tasty Italian treats al fresco in the warmer months. There is also an extensive cocktail list so why not swap post-dinner coffee for an Espresso Martini?
8. De Nada
You can’t beat tapas with friends on a balmy summer’s evening and we know just the place to enjoy it. Tucked away on Market Street, De Nada is a cosy restaurant serving authentic tapas and good quality wine. Inside the restaurant you’ll find white washed walls, lots of artwork and a bonhomie atmosphere.
The menu has loads of tasty tapas dishes to choose from. Expect lots of cold meats and firm Spanish favourites; patatas brava, croquettes, garlic mushrooms and much, much more. Our stomachs are rumbling just thinking about it…
Located in the centre of Guildford, Positano is the perfect post-shopping restaurant to fill up on lots of yummy food and enjoy a glass of Pinot – or two! Positano is recognised in Guildford for its bright red door and welcoming exterior. Inside, the restaurant meets expectations with a cosy ambience and candlelit dining.

10. The Ivy
Situated a stone’s throw away from the historic Guildford castle and the picturesque River Wey, The Ivy Castle View offers sophisticated yet relaxed all-day dining. Spanning across two floors, it features a first-floor private dining room and bar seating 30 guests, with its own covered, private terrace.
The A La Carte menu includes a huge array of starters, seafood, steak and sandwiches. There is also a healthy selection of cocktails on offer.
