The winner of this award will consistently show an expert knowledge and, like all our finalists, an unrivaled passion for their trade. They could be a local deli, a wine and beer store, the village greengrocer or something unique. We present to you our finalists for Independent Retailer of the Year, 2017.
“Cellar Wines is proud to have been nominated for best independent retailer for the first time,” says boutique manager Andy Walton. “We’ve worked so hard since we setup the business, offering exquisite fine wines (including local) and delectable deli treats to our retail and trade customers. Cellar Wines has also worked very closely with the local community and this does bring great personal reward for the work we’ve done. It hasn’t stopped for us and we’ve got lots more to do on the Surrey horizon!”
“It’s an honour to be nominated amongst some of the finest businesses in Surrey,” says director Paul Pavli. “We took on this shop just over a year ago and started from scratch, and as a new independent business we are very proud of how far we have come. We focus on the traditional values of being independent; service, personality and providing high quality products. As well as selling wine, we also host some fantastic pop-up dinner and wine tasting events – these are always popular sell-out evenings!”
‘We are so shocked to have been shortlisted in the Surrey Life Food and Drink Awards, as we really didn’t know people were voting for us – we are genuinely thrilled!” says owner Anita Puttick. “We believe that what sets us apart from our competition is that Gavin has won golds at Cake International four times now and is very knowledgeable. He is always available to answer questions about cake decorating and therefore our customers leave happy and confident in what they are trying to achieve.”
