The Christmas floods caused damage across Surrey, and the grade II listed The Mill at Elstead has only now reopened its doors following a total floor to ceiling renovation.

It took over three weeks for the river waters to subside but, refusing to be defeated, husband and wife landlord and lady Jeff and Georgia Watts took the opportunity to completely refurbish the 300-year-old pub.

“Running The Mill was a dream come true for us,” say the couple who met behind the bar and have been running pubs for over 20 years.

“It’s been a challenging first year but we’re so proud of the pub’s new look and can’t wait to welcome our customers back.”

While visitors to the three-storey pub can still see the mill wheel turning, they can now also walk over a glass floor and see the water running underneath the pub.
