Surrey-based Danny Pecorelli, managing director of the group that runs Pennyhill Park in Bagshot, has been named 2014 Hotelier of the Year by The Caterer.

A judging panel of past winners praised his running of Exclusive Hotels and Venues, which holds 20 AA stars and four Michelin stars between its four hotels, two venues and two golf clubs.

The judges were particularly impressed by Danny’s passion and commitment in being a “hands-on hotelier”.

Having taken over the group in 1997, he has overseen the business double its turnover to £50m in the last ten years.

His father, Giuseppe, founded the company in 1981 with the acquisition of Pennyhill Park, which is home to Michael Wignall’s two Michelin-starred The Latymer restaurant as well as being the official base of the England rugby team.
