Oscar winning actress Dame Judi Dench was among the crowd that flocked to Priory Farm in South Nutfield for their sixth annual Christmas food festival.
The promise of artisan products and the arrival of Father Christmas – as well as mild, sunny weather – meant that excitement was high even before the Outwood resident made her unexpected appearance at Surrey Life’s Farm Shop of the Year 2014.
Chatting to food producers and posing for photos, the film star looked happy and relaxed as she made her way around the stalls.
“This is something we look forward to every year,” she said. “It is absolutely wonderful and we have had a lovely time. We have eaten something of everything and finished up with a lot of ice cream.”
Priory Farm is renowned for its quirky Father Christmas arrival event - and this year was no exception, with Santa appearing over the brow of the hill in a tractor-drawn sleigh led by an elf sitting on top of a 12-feet high wicker reindeer.
