Named Newcomer of the Year at the 2014 Surrey Life Food & Drink Awards, Cellar Magneval is an intimate, shabby chic affair found on a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it street in Woking. Inspired by world travels but with France at its heart, its wine and cheese offering competes with all-comers.
There’s a sense of expectation in the air in Woking, where wholesale changes are afoot. Hidden down Church Path, Cellar Magneval is the perfect pre-theatre treat.
Owned by Thierry and Jo de Magneval, chef sommelier Thierry has worked alongside the likes of Albert Roux (Brasserie Roux Heathrow T5 and Roux at Parliament Square), Herbert Berger (1 Lombard Street), Michel Roux Jr (Le Gavroche and Roux at Parliament Square) and Pierre Koffmann at The Berkeley Hotel. As such, the wine list is a proper journey and the aperitifs are seriously delicious.
