When the owner of the Cellar Magneval wine bars, Thierry de Magneval, met John Mintram of Horsell brewing company, Thurstons, over a game of petanque at The Crown pub in Horsell, an idea was concocted...
“Our first beer together, Saison, originates from the French part of Belgium and is historically made in the winter months ready for the workers during the harvest time,” says Cellar Magneval’s Jo de Magneval. “As a French bar, it seemed to make sense and is a lovely story. It is wonderful to work together as small local businesses, creating exposure on both sides whilst having fun creating new products!”
That ‘fun’ can now be drunk at the Cellar Magneval bar in Woking, as well as at their boutique in Ripley, which has a full range of Thurstons beers for sale too. The beer joins their popular house wine, Bout d’chou.
