Woking Food and Drink Festival

The festival continues to grow in size and popularity and this nomination validates these facts. It’s great recognition for the team that put on this free, three-day culinary experience, which brings people together to taste something different right on their doorstep, in the heart of their town. The festival is enhanced by the Borough’s ongoing transformation, the increase in food and drink related businesses setting up in the area and its growing and diverse population. It has also strengthened partnerships, especially between Woking Borough Council, local businesses and partner organisations, including Tante Marie – the jewel in the festival’s crown.

Surbiton Farmers’ Market

We’ve always felt our market was special. Not just because of its setting on beautiful Maple Road with its village-y restaurants and shops. Nor the 26 stalls of carefully selected produce run by passionate local artisans. It’s our whole business model - a market staffed by volunteers with excess profits going to local good causes. To create a monthly event that brings the whole community together is reward in itself. But to be nominated for an award by Surrey Life readers is the icing on the cake. It’s an affirmation by discerning local people that what we do is appreciated. And that makes us feel very special.

Ripley Farmers’ Market

We’re delighted to be nominated as it means that people coming to our market have enjoyed it enough to take time out of their busy lives to vote for us. We strive to make the market not only a great place to buy local produce but also a local community event bringing people together to socialise as well as shop! So to have affirmation that we are doing this well is truly heart-warming.
