With the national baking phenomenon that is The Great British Bake Off back on our screens, here’s a selection of Surrey bakers to give Paul Hollywood a run for his money

The Bakery, East Horsley

With their bread (and sweet and savoury treats) baked daily in East Horsley, The Bakery then delivers to its Surrey shops in Effingham, Cobham, Ripley, Burpham, Fetcham, Ashtead, Dorking, West Byfleet, Shepperton, Bookham and, indeed, East Horsley. Much enjoyment ensues.

Various locations:

The Bakery at Pennyhill Park, Bagshot

Okay, so this isn’t a High Street bakery, but Pennyhill Park takes its bread so seriously that their bakers can be viewed, through a viewing window, working away in The Bakery to create the day’s variety of speciality breads and patisseries. They also host master classes.

Bread of Heaven, Haslemere

A Welsh anthem – and a bakery in Haslemere. Bread of Heaven is second generation Master Bakers, Nathan and Ross Kavanagh, who continue the family tradition of using only the finest and purest ingredients. As they say: “one of which - passion - simply cannot be bought.”
