With Surrey Farm, Food & Drink Festival, Woking Food & Drink Festival, Denbies Wine Estate celebrating 30 years and more, it’s a busy - and filling! - month ahead for those with a love of food and drink

There’s a veritable feast of foodie treats taking place across Surrey this month, from celebrity-chef strewn extravaganzas to brilliant beer festivals and fairs filled with local produce.

Things kick off, a few weeks earlier than usual, with Surrey Farm, Food & Drink Festival, which this year runs from Saturday August 27 to Friday September 2. A programme of farm walks and events promoting food and drink production in our county, participants include Kingfisher Farm Shop and Tillingbourne Trout Farm in Abinger Hammer, Imbhams Farm in Haslemere, Silent Pool Distillers and Albury Vineyard near Albury, among others. For more about the events on offer, visit surreycountyshow.co.uk.

Tagging on to the end of this week, at Coverwood Lakes near Peaslake, is the new Surrey Hills Festival of Food & Drink. The event will bring the CowParade Surrey herd into one convenient location, along with a host of great local producers, on Saturday September 3. More at surreyhills.org.

Next up, the celebrity chefs come to town for Woking Food & Drink Festival from Friday September 2 to Sunday September 4. Italian gastronome Antonio Carluccio, Chopping Block baker-and-chef duo John Whaite and Rosemary Shrager, MasterChef champion Jane Devonshire and Tom and Henry Herbert (aka The Fabulous Baker Brothers) will be joining a host of top local chefs (including founder of The Clink Restaurant, Al Crisci; Steve Drake; Fernando Stovell; Ben Piette; Aneke Spacie; and Thierry de Magneval) for the occasion. But that’s by no means all. Denbies Wine Estate in Dorking hosts its 30th Anniversary Festival on Sunday September 4 (denbies.co.uk); Guildford will be hosting the annual G Live Beer Festival on Friday September 9 and Saturday September 10 (glive.co.uk); and Farnham Food Festival will return on Saturday September 24 (farnham.gov.uk).

Meanwhile, over in the village of Ockley, the Village Greens Food Fair will take place for the 10th time at the farm shop of the same name on Saturday September 24. As well as a farmers’ market packed full of produce, there will be live demonstrations, including Norbury Blue Cheese and Crumbs of Capel, and tours of the market garden. More at vgfarmshop.com.

Finally, if you’ve got any room left at all, then Surrey County Agricultural Society bring things to a close this month with their celebration of rural life, the Surrey Game and Country Fair, at Loseley Park, near Guildford, on Sunday September 25. More at surreycountyshow.co.uk.

P.S. That’s not forgetting the Surrey Life Food & Drink Awards 2016 on Thursday September 8, of course - keep your eyes peeled on our twitter feed, @SurreyLife, to watch the action from the night and the results come in...
