Reigate student ranked number one chess player for his age group

Alex Golding, a student at Reigate Grammar School had much to celebrate over the summer break. Alex is currently ranked the number one chess player in the Under 12 category for both the English Chess Federation and FIDE - World Chess Federation.
Over the summer Alex, played at the British Chess Championships. During this international event, Alex was not only the youngest player but he was also awarded the John Robinson Annual Fellowship at the prize giving that took place after the Championships. One fellowship is awarded every year by the John Robinson Youth Chess Trust (a trust administered by the English Chess Federation) and Alex is the youngest junior player to have been awarded the Fellowship.
Alex also won the Under 11 title, at the Delancey UK Schools Chess Challenge and has set up a record by winning the title and the Patrick Rebello Cup in three out of the last four years.
