After 2 and a half years Kieran has finally completed all 8 challenge badges and has now received the Chief Scout Gold Award

Reigate Grammar School student Kieran Twaites, has been awarded the Chief Scout Gold Award. This is the highest award given to Scouts who must complete 8 challenge badges over their time in Scouts. It has taken Kieran 2 1/2 years to complete all the work necessary. Very few Scouts complete all the challenge badges and receive the coveted Gold award, but Kieran has stuck doggedly to the task and was presented with his badge by the District Scout Leader.

About 100 Scouts per annum win their Gold in Surrey and this is celebrated with a formal certificate presentation ceremony in March at Runnymede, when all of the key Surrey Scout representatives will be present.

Kieran completed the following challenges badges:-

The Outdoor Challenge

The Outdoor Plus Challenge

The Creative Challenge

The Fitness Challenge

The Global Challenge

The Community Challenge

The Adventure Challenge

The Promise Challenge

Previously, Kieran was in Beavers and Cubs where he won the Chief Scout Bronze and Silver awards. Later in the year he will join Explorer Scouts and is already planning the work for the Platinum, Diamond and finally the Queens Scout award. In addition to these awards, Kieran’s leadership skills have always been recognised as Sixer in cubs and then Scout Patrol Leader. Late last year he was been given the role of Senior Troop Leader within the 38th Reigate Scout Group. This is a very rare honour and is very seldom awarded, But Kieran has earnt it and it allows him to assist in the running of the troop; games and organise camps/expeditions.

We are very proud of Kieran, who never ceases to amaze us with the breadth of his abilities.
