Following on from the success of the recently launched Tennis Academy, Ewell Castle is launching a new Cricket Academy, which has been designed to allow boys and girls to combine intensive cricket training and academic education within an integrated curriculum with the aim of developing cricket talent.

Pupils will be full members of the School community and follow the core subjects, but will have the flexibility to tailor their studies around their cricket training. Applications to join the Cricket Academy should be sent to n.turk@ewellcastle.co.uk by Monday 2 February 2015.

The School is situated within a 15 acre site, with a picturesque cricket ground, indoor and outdoor nets and a large sports hall with fitness facilities and a classroom dedicated to Performance Analysis. The School is committed to delivering first-class coaching, training and playing opportunities within a safe environment and to ‘achieving each child’s potential.’

The Cricket Academy will be managed by Neil Turk, former Sussex County Cricket Club player and the programme will include; one-to-one professional coaching, weekly Academy group sessions, personalised strength and conditioning training, video analysis of performance, player development feedback, a flexible academic timetable tailored for each pupil, performance and lifestyle mentoring, weekly Games afternoon lessons, Academy fixtures, pre-school fitness sessions within the ECSports Academy and ECSports Academy breakfast.

Families with sons or daughters currently playing cricket for Surrey/another county within the (CAG), or are members of one of the age group district squads, or they believe that they have the potential to reach this standard, should consider applying for the ECS Cricket Academy. Pupils who are awarded a place on the Cricket Academy will train and play for Ewell Castle School as well as for their club and district or county teams.

The ECS Cricket Academy will be holding a trial on Friday 13 of February to assess the current ability and potential ability of those children who would wish to be part of the programme. Following applications to the Head of Cricket, players of a suitable standard will be invited to the trial. Each pupil who attends the trial will be individually assessed, and successful applicants may be offered scholarships to attend Ewell Castle School.
