Year 7 Hallifordians are truly embracing their musical talents and getting involved in the musical life of the school

On Thursday 5 November, Halliford School held its annual ‘Halliford Song Contest’.

Pupils from Years 7 to 13 participated in the Class and House Event in which six weeks of student led rehearsal culminated in one final, competitive concert performed in The John Crook Theatre. Pupils selected their own songs and were also required to prepare a performance of a ‘compulsory’ song, this year’s genre being the 1980s.

On Friday 13 November, several Year 7 musicians made their solo debut, performing in the Recital Hall. Supportive fellow peers and tutors filled the hall to enjoy the eclectic mix of piano duets and solos, classical and popular vocal music, bass, electric guitar and drum kit pieces.

Pupils will also have the opportunity to enter the prestigious ‘Halliford Young Musicican Competition’ in March.
