Independent boys' preparatory school, Kingswood House will be extending the age range of its pupils from 13 to 16, from September 2017.

Mr Chris Shipley, Chair of Governors, said: “The governors are convinced that our boys should continue their education in the most appropriate caring and supportive environment that we cherish here at Kingswood House. We will, of course, continue to support boys who wish to leave at 13 by continuing with our Common Entrance and Scholarship programme.”

Mr Peter Brooks, Headmaster, commented: “We are responding to frequent requests from our Parent Body to continue to 16 and the fact is that we are extremely good at educating our boys and soon we will have the opportunity to do so through to their GCSEs.”

Recent market developments, such as the decline of the Common Entrance exam, the introduction of pre-tests and independent senior schools reducing their entry age to 11, prompted a strategic review resulting in this development.
