After a 13-year break, and returning to painting only 18 months ago, Lisa Andrews was chosen as one of the lead artists for the opening exhibition of LIFE The Gallery
in Runfold last September.

Since then, the Tilford-based painter has gone on to occupy the gallerys first artist in residence slot, which continues this month.

I was delighted to be chosen, says Lisa, 40. Its gone so well so far and The Gallery is a gem. The owners, Martin and Kerry Kelly, should be congratulated for bringing international artists and artworks to Farnham, while supporting local artists and the art community.

Born at Farnham Hospital, Lisa attended South Farnham School and Farnham Sixth Form College, before doing a degree in fine art at the UCA in her hometown.

Now married and the mother of two daughters, Lisa has established a working studio in the gardens of her home near Frensham Ponds. There, she has covered a diverse range of subject matter and developed her expertise in oil on canvas.

I find inspiration locally from two of Surreys greatest areas of outstandingnatural beauty, Frensham Ponds and Hankley Common, she says. I am fortunate enough to live within walking distance of both.

  • Lisa Andrews is currently artist in residence at LIFE The Gallery, Hewitts Kilns, Tongham Road, Runfold, near Farnham GU10 1PJ. Tel: 01252 781177
