To celebrate the best of beautiful Surrey, we’ve created this inspiring 132-page coffee table magazine. In A Celebration of Surrey Life we travel across our county in search of the must-visit hotspots, via towns and villages, film locations, wildlife wonders and more

Welcome

Having worked on Surrey Life magazine for the best part of ten years now, I have a growing suspicion that things have rarely been more interesting or creative than they are right now.

Okay, so it’s not London and our towns and villages don’t react to every passing trend – thankfully – but there’s definitely something in the water.

Whether it’s restaurants and pubs looking to move up a few tiers, local residents launching their foodie products or crafts businesses, the deeply felt discussions over our county’s Green Belt, or the internationally important innovation that’s continuing to take place here, it seems Surrey is setting out to carve its place in the world.

Fundamentally, however, Surrey remains one of the most desirable places to live in the country for people looking to work and play with easy city and international connections, as well as beautiful countryside.

In Celebration magazine every year, we fully adhere to the Surrey Life mission of casting our spotlight on the unique and quirky alongside the famous and ‘best’ that our small but perfectly formed county has to offer.

This year, while you’ll still find a selection of anchor towns and villages to visit, we’ve cast our net a little wider to look at the impact of film, wildlife, drinks producers and more – a Surrey Life annual, if you will. We also meet some of the characters from each of our towns and discover what makes the places so special in their eyes. They could have all said so much more!

This year’s edition has also taken an artsy twist. Surrey Life has been a proud sponsor of Surrey Artists’ Open Studios from my very earliest days on the magazine, and media partner to CowParade Surrey this year, and our county’s artists have an ability to capture our places and icons in the most romantic of ways. You’ll certainly find plenty of striking imagery to enjoy, whether your preference is for photography or watercolours.

Right, I’ve kept you far too long already. Suffice to say, I hope you enjoy the journey and look forward to seeing some of your pics from your local travels at surreylife.co.uk/photos – and feel free to tweet me your Surrey favourites and quirkier finds to @MattWilliamsSL. I look forward to hearing from you.
