The weekend is fast approaching and for those still deciding how to spend their Friday through to Sunday, we pick five of the best ways to spend your weekend in Surrey
1. Bonfire night in Surrey

1 November – 30 November
Join one of Kew’s volunteer guides for a walking tour this month to find out how the two World Wars affected Kew Gardens and some of the surprising contributions the gardens and staff made to the war effort. The tours last approximately an hour. Tickets: included in normal garden entry.
4 November, 9am-1pm
Long a favourite day out for families, this unique running event takes place at Chessington World of Adventures Resort. With 10k, 5k, and a kid’s challenge course, runners are taken on a wild adventure weaving through the resort’s zoo and rides. The event will be raising funds towards Merlin’s Magic Wand, which supports seriously ill, disabled and disadvantaged children.

The first of Surrey’s many Christmas markets takes place this weekend in Cranleigh. The market has grown in size over the years and 2017’s fair is set to have over 60 independent boutiques selling a range of gifts, clothing, decorations and festive cuisine. The Christmas Fair will be open to shoppers from 10am until 4pm. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates.

The Surrey Sculpture Society will be staging a three-day Sculpture Showcase and Arts Event at the Landmark Arts Centre in Teddington, a 19th century Grade II Listed building known as ‘The Cathedral of the Thames Valley’.
