We pick some of the best places in Surrey to enjoy a festive take on the quintessential English tradition of afternoon tea at Christmas

Warren House, Kingston

When: 1 December – 5 January, 12-5pm

Menu: Cakes and pastries include: ‘snow men’; cranberry and mandarin éclairs; chestnut macaroons; mulled wine trifle; scones and preserves with clotted cream.

Sandwiches include: turkey and home-made stuffing; smoked salmon and cream cheese; egg and cress; roasted peppers with cucumber and avocado.

How much: Festive afternoon tea is £35 for adults and £17.50 for children on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day or £24.95 Monday to Friday and £28.95 on weekends.

Foxhills, Ottershaw

When: 1 – 24 December

Menu: Cakes and pastries include: stolen, a festive Yule log; Christmas cake; pistachio macaroons; cranberry and sultana scones and/or vanilla scones.

Sandwiches include: brie and cranberry; turkey and white onion marmalade; oak smoked salmon and cream cheese; cream cheese and cucumber.

How much: Festive afternoon tea is £28 for adults and £14 for children.

Langshott Manor, Horley

When: 1 – 31 December

Menu: Cakes and pastries include: mince pies; sultana scones; Clementine and ginger posset; coffee and walnut delice; chocolate éclairs.

Sandwiches include: roast beef and horseradish; smoked salmon and cream cheese; turkey and cranberry; farmhouse cheddar and tomato chutney.

How much: Champagne afternoon tea is £39 per person or £29 per person without Champagne.

Menu: Cakes and pastries include: plain and spiced scones; eggnog panna cotta; mince pies; pistachio and cranberry delice; mulled pear tart and rum raisin macaroon.

Menu: Cakes and pastries include: salted caramel and pear tartlet; vanilla and redcurrant macaroon; ginger marmalade cake; Yule log with Morello cherry cream.

Sandwiches include: brie, cranberry and rocket; turkey, chestnut stuffing and chutney; smoked salmon and dill cream cheese; honey glazed ham and mustard.
