Restaurant of the Year finalists: Surrey Life Food & Drink Awards 2017
PUBLISHED: 16:15 01 September 2017
We were looking for an exciting dining destination that offers an overall experience of excellence, with quality offered on all fronts whatever the cuisine. Here’s our finalists...
“We feel very proud that The Tudor Room has been nominated as Restaurant of the Year,” says general manager Cathy Nolan. “This comes as a culmination of a dedicated and enthusiastic team who take great pride in offering attentive yet unobtrusive service in a sophisticated and intimate setting. Our aim is to offer every customer a unique and memorable experience and serve food that is seasonal, cooked well and innovative using local suppliers where possible.”
“It’s a great honour,” says chef proprietor Paul Baker. “Everyone working at Kinghams takes pride in the consistent quality of food and service. For front of house, this means offering friendly and efficient service. For the food, we try to create exciting dishes with originality, but the emphasis is on quality ingredients. Our butcher sources meat from Surrey farms; fish is direct from Brixham, as well as from Ashtead Fisheries; while fruit and veg are from our village greengrocers.”
“We are overwhelmed by the support of everyone who has voted for us, and being a finalist is great recognition of the team’s hard work and dedication,” says head chef Mike Wall-Palmer. “We truly believe in giving our guests the best experience we can, and always concentrate on the consistency and creativity of our monthly menus. The response to our supper clubs has been humbling and we look forward to continuing the traditional British hospitality, for which The Anchor has long been renowned.”
