On Thursday 21 September, 35 students from Years 7-13 at Box Hill School, Mickleham, celebrated their outstanding LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) exam results with 12 Distinctions and 23 Merits

LAMDA has been offered at Box Hill School for approximately 19 years. It has become a very valuable subject in its own right as it provides students with essential life skills and attributes such as self-confidence and the ability to communicate clearly and present ideas. They learn the art of public speaking, conversation, expressing opinions and developing their performance skills; all of which can help to prepare them for the future and real life.

Mrs Caroline Lowe, who has taught LAMDA at Box Hill School for 16 years and is a member of the Board of examiners for LAMDA said: “I am delighted with our continued 100% pass rate for the June examinations. The highest mark achieved this year was 97% for Public Speaking.”

Headmaster Mr Cory Lowde commented: “I was delighted to be in the audience for the students’ performances, to see such talent, enthusiasm and confidence in their speeches and monologues was simply inspiring. The ability to present to an audience and bring the written word to life so effortlessly will stand them all in great stead in the future. I am immensely proud of their efforts and of the staff who have helped them to achieve these results”.
