This month look out for...

  • The first dainty, bright white snowdrops, quivering in the cold
    winter wind
  • Hungry garden birds – food is scarce at this time of year and water may
be frozen – so put out water, nuts and seeds or scraps of food for them
  • Hibernating butterflies, honey bees and wasps out and about on the
    occasional sunnier days
  • Hedgehogs topping up their feeding when they wake briefly once
    a fortnight from hibernation
  • Deciduous trees in bud – a welcome sign that spring is on its way
